Wayne Brady

For multiple Emmy Award winner and Grammy Award nominee Wayne Brady, comedy and music have always been at the center of a successful and diverse career. Brady has been entertaining audiences with his singing, acting, and unmatched improvisational skills for well over a decade. This diversity has led to a career that goes beyond the term “triple threat.”

Brady’s career took off in 1998 with the television series Whose Line Is It Anyway?, for which he won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety, Musical, or Comedy Series. Brady went on to host his own syndicated talk/variety show, The Wayne Brady Show, for two seasons. He earned two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Talk Show Host, and the show also won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show.

Most recently, Brady earned rave reviews in his starring role on Broadway as drag queen “Lola” in the Tony Award-winning musical, Kinky Boots. His additional theater credits include the Broadway production of Chicago, in which he starred as lawyer Billy Flynn, and the Hollywood Bowl production of Rent, directed by Neil Patrick Harris.

Also, Brady made a big splash in Las Vegas with his critically acclaimed stage show, Makin’ It Up, which he has since performed around the world, in countries such as South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and India.

In 2008 Brady earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance for his single “A Change Is Gonna Come,” off his debut album, A Long Time Coming. In addition, Brady released a children’s album, Radio Wayne, which took the top spot on the iTunes and Amazon kids charts.

On the big screen, Brady has been featured in several films, including CrossoverRoll Bounce, and the animated film Foodfight! Also, he’s been tapped to host several high-profile television shows, including the NAACP Awards, BET Honors, and The Late Late Show, which he guest-hosted for a week.

On the small screen Wayne Brady was the original host of Fox’s Don’t Forget the Lyrics!, and from November 2015 to March 2016, and as James Stinson on the American TV series How I Met Your Mother.

Chappelle Show: Wayne Brady was a fan of Chappelle’s Show and never missed an episode. … Chappelle called him the next day, which led to a famous sketch in which Brady shows off his dark side.

Let’s Make a Deal: An updated American version of the classic TV game show of the 1960s, filmed in Los Angeles. Hosted by comic/singer/actor Wayne Brady, contestants — often dressed in a wide variety of original costumes — will still compete for money and prizes by striking wacky deals.

Jonathan Mangum is the show’s announcer, and Monty Hall, arguably the best-known host of the earlier version of the show, is listed among the new show’s creative consultants. The program won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song in 2014 for “30,000 Reasons to Love Me,” composed by Cat Gray and performed by Wayne Brady.

Brady is a native of Orlando, FL, where he began his career working at theme parks and performing in local theater shows. His love for improvisation was first sparked as a member of the Orlando improv comedy theater, SAK Comedy Lab.
