Hire Comedian Carly Aquilino

New York native Carly Aquilino might be best known for her numerous appearances on MTV Girl Code and Safeword. She has also has appeared on Uncommon Sense with Charlamagne, The Jim Gaffigan Show, The Playboy Morning Show, and the popular online series, Hot Ones. Aquilino also tours as a standup comedian.

Aquilino gravitated towards comedy early in life. “I feel like I always had an affinity for comedy because I grew up watching shows that had really funny females,” she continues, “I grew up watching I Love Lucy because my mom loved that show. And then I loved The Nanny and I loved all the girls on Friends.” Aquilino started as a hairdresser. She jokes, “I’m from Long Island. It was like in my blood to be a hairdresser.” While working as a hairdresser, Aquilino found out that she needed to have spinal surgery; after a year of recuperation, she still couldn’t keep working on her feet as a hairdresser. “I was working at as a receptionist, but standup was something that I always wanted to do when I had been writing a lot. So I thought, ‘You know what, I’m just going to try it and if I hate it, I never have to do it again.’ And it ended up working out, luckily.”

It was while doing comedy at New York’s prestigious Carolines comedy club that Aquilino was noticed by the creator of Girl Code, Ryan Ling. After the show, he asked her to audition for the pilot. “I had never been on camera before,” Aquilino explains. “I had never done anything like that before. I was fairly new in comedy and it turned out well. I got the job and that was kind of the thing that made me think, ‘Wow, I could really do this, you know?’”

After Girl Code ended in 2015, she appeared on several other MTV shows, before starting to work on her own projects. When Aquilino isn’t podcasting or preparing for auditions, she is on the road working as a stand up comedian. She jokes about collecting trinkets that she picks up in every city she performs in, but she gets more out of it. “Traveling. It’s definitely one of those things,” she says, “It’s definitely hard, but it’s something I would never change. And something that makes the experience really special and you learn and you grow in every city that you go to, you learn and you get to perform.”

Carly Aquilino is a stand up comedian whom can regularly be seen throughout comedy clubs in New York, including on stage at Gotham Comedy club and who’s stand up is regularly featured on Sirius XM radio.
