Born in New Jersey raised in Atlanta, Matthew grew up in a house of scholars. His father was a PhD chemist, his mother has a Master’s degree in Microbiology, and his brother is a mechanical/aeronautical engineer. Matthew followed in their footsteps and studied mechanical engineering as well as computational and earned a degree in applied mathematics at Rice University and got a job as a financial analyst before moving to West Hollywood to pursue stand-up comedy.

He was the 2012 Winner of Houston’s Funniest Person contest. He has appeared on COMEDY KNOCKOUT, ADAM DEVINE’S HOUSE PARTY, THE LEAGUE, and THE MINDY PROJECT. He was featured as a New Face at the 2015 Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival where also was runner up to Jimmy Carr in the International Roastmasters Invitational. He was on Comedy Central’s ROAST BATTLE where he came in second place and has done a half-hour special with the network as well! He recently performed stand up as well on Conan & Jimmy Fallon.

Outside of doing stand up comedy full time, he enjoys swimming, sculpting cartoon characters, using semicolons pretentiously, and working on his webcomic, mondaypunday.com, that you should check out if you like puzzles or puns or whatever.
